For organizations

Help your team communicate respectfully with Deaf people.

Practical, Deaf-led learning about culture, communication, history, and etiquette. SignHello teaches Deaf culture and etiquette, not sign language.

The everyday gap

Most people want to get it right. Few were ever shown how.

Hearing staff are usually kind and well-meaning. Almost nobody has been taught what to do when a Deaf person is in front of them, so they guess, freeze, or talk to the interpreter instead. SignHello fixes that with short, practical education from two Deaf founders.

Built for

  • Healthcare
  • Schools and universities
  • Government and public services
  • Businesses and nonprofits
  • Disability services
  • Customer-facing teams

What your team will be able to do

Practical skills for the moments that actually happen

  • Greet a Deaf patient, student, or customer without freezing or apologizing
  • Get someone's attention the respectful way, without tapping, waving, or shouting
  • Speak to the Deaf person, not the interpreter
  • Stop saying "never mind" and know what to do when repeating is not working
  • Understand why lipreading is not a plan, and what works instead
  • Handle a video call, a front counter, or an emergency with a Deaf person present

Why Deaf-led matters

Taught by people who live it every day.

SignHello was created and is led by Patrick McMullen and Justin Loncar, two Deaf founders. Every lesson comes from lived experience and from years of answering the questions hearing people are often afraid to ask. The goal is to reduce how often Deaf people have to explain the basics, by giving hearing people a place to learn them first.
